Xbox 360 Outselling Other Consoles Heavily

Xbox 360 has been dominating the video game console sales for the past four months, surpassing both the Wii and PS3 systems, and moving up 37 percent in sales since last September. According to research firm NPD and Microsoft, the Xbox 360 sold 484,000 units during the month, which far outweighed their previous sales in August when 356,700 of the Xbox 360 console systems were sold nationwide. As a sales comparison, both the Wii, which had sold 462,800 units and the PS3 which had total of 491,800 units sold at that time as well, have decreased substantially in sales since last September.

According to reports from Microsoft this is the biggest year ever for the Xbox 360, with all the pre orders of Kinect for the 360 selling out video game retailers nationwide in a show of strong consumer demand. Microsoft also stated that not only were retailers in the US sold out of Kinect pre orders, several UK retailers had been sold out on pre orders of Kinect, a product that is aimed to release on November 4th of this year, as well. During this statement they also discussed the release of two major games that have been enjoying successful franchises: Fable III and Call of Duty: Black Ops, on October 26th and November 9th, respectively. Another highly successful video game franchise is that of Halo. Halo: Reach was the foremost leader of sales on the United States software chart, released monthly, with over 3 million sales in its launch month alone. This game is only the third game developed during this console generation to accomplish this amazing sales feat.
